Privacy policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Last updated: June 23, 2026
Luciano Legal ("we," "us," or "the firm") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information in our care. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the fair information principles it is built on.
Personal information you provide to us as a client, in the course of receiving legal services, is also protected by our professional duty of confidentiality and, where applicable, solicitor-client privilege under the rules of the Law Society of Ontario. Those obligations are broader than this website policy.
1. Who is responsible for your information
The firm is accountable for the personal information under its control. Questions about this policy or our handling of personal information can be directed to our Privacy Officer:

2. The personal information we collect
We collect only the information we need. Depending on how you use the site, this may include:
- Information you give us through our contact and quote forms, by email, or by phone – such as your name, email address, telephone number, and the details you choose to share about your matter.
- Information collected automatically when you visit the site – such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit, gathered through cookies and Google Analytics.
Please do not send us confidential or sensitive information through this website before we have agreed in writing to act for you. See our Terms of use for more.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your inquiry and provide the consultation or quote you request;
- provide, manage, and administer legal services where you become a client;
- communicate with you about your matter or your request;
- meet our legal, regulatory, and professional obligations (including those of the Law Society of Ontario); and
- understand and improve how our website is used.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to those above without your consent.
4. Consent
By providing personal information through this website, you consent to our collecting, using, and disclosing it for the purposes described in this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or professional restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting our Privacy Officer – though doing so may limit our ability to provide a service you have asked for.
5. How we share information
We disclose personal information only as needed for the purposes above, including to:
- Service providers who help us operate – for example, website hosting, practice-management software, secure document exchange, electronic identity verification, electronic signing, and website analytics (Google Analytics) – who are required to protect the information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
- Others involved in your matter, where reasonably required to carry out the work you have retained us for (for example, a lender, the other party's lawyer, or a land registry), with your knowledge.
- Authorities or others where we are required or permitted to do so by law.
6. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies – small files stored on your device – and Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, browser, and the pages you view, which Google processes on our behalf. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or by setting your browser to refuse cookies – though some parts of the site may not function as intended.
7. Storage, safeguards, and information outside Canada
We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including administrative, technical, and physical measures intended to guard against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Some of our service providers store or process information on servers located outside Canada – in particular, our website hosting and practice-management systems operate in the United States, and email is handled through Microsoft 365. Information held outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its courts and government authorities.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and to meet our legal, regulatory, and professional record-keeping obligations, after which it is securely destroyed or de-identified.
9. Accessing and correcting your information
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete. We will respond to your request within the time required by law. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer using the details in section 1. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and in limited circumstances the law may require or permit us to decline access.
10. Electronic communications
If we send you commercial electronic messages, we do so in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL): we rely on your consent, identify ourselves, and include a way to unsubscribe in each message. You can opt out of those messages at any time, and we will still send communications necessary to a matter we are handling for you.
11. Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date. Your continued use of the website after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
13. Questions or concerns
If you have a question or concern about your privacy, please contact our Privacy Officer (section 1). If we are unable to resolve your concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or 1-800-282-1376.
